Closet NEC Codes
Incandescent lighting must be completely enclosed, otherwise use a fluorescent light.
Surface-mounted incandescent lights must be 12 in from nearest point of a storage space. Surface-mounted fluorescent lights must be 6 in from nearest point of a storage space.
