Basement NEC Codes
All receptacles must be GFCI protected, except a receptacle supplying only a permanently installed fire alarm or burglar alarm system.
At least one receptacle outlet in unfinished basement (or unfinished portion) in addition to any provided for specific equipment, such as laundry.
Nonmetallic wires (cover of wire is not metal) cannot be placed below joists. Must run wires through bored holes, unless 6/2 or bigger, or 8/3 or bigger.
Need one smoke detector in basement.
